Dr Emel Aktas is a Professor of Supply Chain Analytics at Cranfield School of Management. She specialises in mathematical modelling, simulation, decision support systems, and statistical analysis to address supply chain problems, specifically in transport, retail, and manufacturing sectors.
Her recent research focuses on the circular economy and robotic automation of end-of-life decisions for a range of products (RoboTriage). RoboTriage builds on the learnings from the CIRC€UIT Marie Curie Innovative Training Network.
Emel’s earlier research focused on food supply chain management, with one project (SAFE-Q) on minimising the waste in food supply chains and another (U-TURN) on logistics collaboration practices for the distribution of food in the cities. Her work has appeared in the European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Economics, and Computers and Human Behaviour.
